Short presentation

-  34 years ago I developed an academic graduate program at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem that trained ECEC practitioners for leadership roles in the field of Early Childhood, with an emphasis on the education of children under-3 years of age. I was the director of this program for about 30 years, till my retirement. The few hundreds of graduates of this programs are involved today in developing educational and intervention for infants and toddlers and their families, they work with at-risk population and in different cultural communities. They are directors and co-ordinators of community based programs for young children and their families. Many teach in teacher training colleges and a few are involved in developing very unique training for the poorly educated, untrained child care workers in day care in Israel.

- Over the years I have been invovled, as a chair-person of minesterial committees in a attempts to change the government policy related to ECEC of under-s.

- During the same years I have been contiuously involved in research on social and emotional development of young children, on the effects of Quality of Child Care on children's educational experiences, on parents' culture-based attitudes and beliefs related to developmental goals and valued educational practice.

- Since the Israeli government has not participated in the OECD review of ECEC policy - I got my students involved in collecting similar data.
